Merci pour la video! I have a question about "Comment t'appelle-tu?" When asking the question "comment t'appelle-tu," you pronounce "t'appelle' differently from when you said "tu t'appelle." Why is this?

@luvisacigarette8 Hi! You're welcome! Other than difference in intonation, there is nothing that changes here, really. I listened myself and I can spot no difference.

By the way, in "Comment t'appelles-tu" and "Tu t'appelles" we have "-es" at the end, because it is the form "tu" (not "il" or "elle").

Hi Anton. I do not understand the two different questions: comment vous appelez-vous? & Comment t'appelles-tu? If you are asking somebody their name then you do not know them. So even if there was a business meeting with a single person you did not know it would still be vous not tu. In what situation would you say "Comment t'appelles-tu?" Merci. Edward.

Thank you for your question. "Vous" is the formal way to address a person. Even if you know them quite well but have a formal relationship with them (they might be a colleague at work, a business partner, a shop assistant), it is a must to use "vous". In your situation, "vous" would definitely be used.

Coming to these two questions, "Comment vous appelez-vous?" includes "vous", so it's for formal situations. The other question includes "tu", which means that it is for informal ones
