(apologize for the poor camera work) Always read your instructions thoroughly before you begin this process (especially if you have never done it before). I'm not very experienced so it is likely that I have left out some little tidbit of info here or there that would have helped your along the way. In making this video I really just wanted to show how easy making jam is. Many people (myself included) have been hesitant to try making jam because it seems like it would be difficult. It really isn't. There is an instruction leaflet in every box of pectin. I follow that recipe. Also, it is VERY important to note that you must use specifically "no-sugar-needed pectin" for your no sugar or artificial sweetener jams. Do not use regular pectin unless you are doing a standard real sugar jam.

  • What kind of juice did you use?

  • @uptownbronze I think I used some sort of blueberry juice that Randy found at the grocery store. To be honest, I wouldn't do it exactly the same again. I think I'd pick a different juice. ~Amanda

  • Wow, thank you for the quick reply! I am looking forward to making your jam. Would this make-up also work with other berries?

  • @bugsprettyblue yes, and actually the pectin that I bought had specific instructions inside for all kinds of jams. Most of them are pretty much the same though. ~Amanda

  • I am interested in making my own jam, a healthier version that tastes good too. I have never canned anything in my life so please pardon my ignorance. I am using this video as a model to make my jam. When filling the jars, it looked runny, does it thicken up after in the jar or do I cook to desired thickness? HELP!!! :-)

  • @bugsprettyblue it thickens once the jars cool. there is a way to test the consistency of it while you are making it but I haven't done that... you might be able to see that one someone else's video... but honestly, making jam was so much easier than I thought it would be. ~Amanda

  • Thanks for the Video, we have Diabetics in the family, so I was looking for a low sugar option.

  • Good morning Amanda! Thank you for getting back to me. Are there different brands of pectin and if so, what do you recommend?

  • @GettingThereGreen That would be wonderful :)

  • @beetlebomb1 Perhaps we can do a video on us eating toast with the jam on it? Would that be ok?
