This is my WW2 submarine dive horn that was featured in the New Years video. These horns were either gray or light green such as this one is. In US Navy terms this is known as an H9 type and is dated 1942. This horn is really called a Klaxon.

What part of the submarine klaxon spins to make the sound?

There is an internal rotor shaft that spins around and vibrates against the diaphragm of the horn. The little bolt you see in the mouth of the horn is attached to the shaft and is the part which vibrates.

Note sound coming from these is the true 'klaxon' sound, post WW II boats and surface ships with klaxons had a VAC system (voltage-alternating current - basically household current). Have heard both in comparison - there is a difference. This would be an impressive collectors piece,

We mount on oak board, stained and polyurethane, you can desk or wall mount, you would need to affix hanger hooks on back of board suitable to the weight. As a 20 VDC 3.5 amp (voltage direct current) - this is significant amperage for a small appliance - it is a powerful system to work with the intended WW II boats, which were 220/240VDC systems. They are of a very robust construction designed for combat conditions. In their own way, they are beautiful.
