Bearded Dragon Courtship

This is a video of the courtship between a male (with the black beared) and the female (usually in the 'center') inland bearded dragon. I did a research project on their courtship behaviours for an animal behaviour class in 3rd year University. The male's courtship displays are similar to their displays of aggression (therefore, stronger and larger the displays, the more 'fit' he is seen by the female). The female responds with an arm wave (a sign of submission and species identification). It's quite hillarious to see in person!

The female is Fergie, and lives with me. The male is a friends. We were also trying to breed them at this point.

i just got my bearded dragon, he is a juvenile, he had a previous owner but he had to get rid of it because his wife got pregnant. I was wondering, whenever i get my hand close to him, he puffs up and and shows his beard. i was wondering if that meant that he dosnt like my hand around him. i have held him before at the pet store and he was pretty docile

Hey Darth...

I'm not 100% sure, but the fact that he was okay in the pet store and then now is freaking out probably just means that he has to get used to his new environment. He may be acting 'territorial' or something towards this new, unfamiliar environment. Give it a couple weeks... he should probably calm down. :)

@darthw111 mine did the same thing ell they was acting weired when i brought mine home they wouldent eat or move but when i asked about it at the pet store they said they are just getting use to there new home so soon they should be fine
