We have expanded the Factory Sound Bank in Reason 5 to include Signature Patches, Rex Loops, and samples from some industry heavy hitters and straight up legends. You've now got a window into the experimental mind of Black Eyed Peas' Printz Board, the one-of-a-kind production tricks of Public Enemy's Hank Shocklee, and modern dance-floor primed kits from Adam Beyer/Carl Lekebusch and Sharooz Raoofi.

  • im looking at gettin reason5 pretty soon for my new comp for mixing recrodings of my band mostly but also wanna attempt at making some dubstep kind of things, can anyone tell me if there is a plug in for programming drum patterns (like ultrabeat on logic) as i fail miserably at putting beats in with a midi keyboard :P

  • @IamAntyPants The Redrum drum machine in Reason or the Matrix pattern sequencer both could help you program without a keyboard. I use a keyboard for everything but drums. For drums, I use pattern sequencers also because it just makes more sense to my brain. :)

  • If I use my typing keyboard as a midi keyboard it lags by like .06 seconds. (Enough to ruin a song). Should that lag time be virtually eliminated if I use an actual midi keyboard? If so, will USB midi keyboards work?

  • @RichardfGomes Good question Richard. That lag is called "latency" and latency is always present in every controller and keyboard. However, the latency on a midi keyboard is extremely low. In fact, if you set your sound card to operate in a low latency mode of around 6 milliseconds, it is non-existent essentially. There are many choices for midi keyboards and all of them do a great job, but some offer other features you might want like knobs, faders, drum pads, etc. Good luck and thanks!

  • Hey everyone at PropellerHeads, is there any way I could get a tutorial of any sort? I just got Reason 5 and I would like to learn how to use it. Thanks

  • @MilkeyGueyVideos Hey Milkey... head over to our website because we've literally got hours of tutorials, both video and printed. We have a whole series of "micro tutorials" that teach various concepts in video form. Our product specialist James Bernard just wrapped up a year-long weekly video series called 52 Reason/Record Tips, we have an article series called Discovering Reason, and a beginners guide to experimentation. There's tons of stuff to check out and get going with. Good luck!

  • @theRUFisonfiyah No worries on sounding like a noob. We are all noobs in one way or another because production and music is a constant learning process. :) That's an M-Audio Axiom 25 he's using. Thanks and good luck!

  • How expensive is this??

  • think reason 5 is for maniac its not user friendly software.

  • @RichardfGomes Try plugging in some headphones, that eliminated my latency completely.

  • I'm so glad this has been cracked!

  • cool black eye pee man, give your MPC to me!

  • @givemerockbitch I think it's 300-500 bucks.

  • None of these producers make me wanna aspire to be like them...lets hear Deadmau5 or like edrush and optical talk about using reason....it wont happen wanna know why?!... almost everyone whos respected and established in the industry uses an MPC and or protools.

  • Someone needs to tell that guy white frames look retarded on EVERYONE

  • If i had money... i'd be all over this.
