You can buy the Carson shows with Fodor from NBC, but you have to purchase the entire show and it ain't cheap. ! I run Gino's Myspace page and have all of his recordings. PM me if want/need them. Also, let me know what videos you have on your Facebook page. I don't have the evil Facebook anymore! LOL
@ Mr. Cncmoldmaker, I remember those Johnny Carson appearances well. They MUST be somewhere! Also, I can't find any of Eugene's recordings on iTunes. I sent them an e-mail, and I suggested they get these on iTunes. Also, I have posted some of Eugene's videos on my Facebook page.
Eugene was a friend and neighbor of mine. It seems that all of his Johnny Carson Videos have been taken off of youtube. He was not only a world class violinist, he was also a great horseman. A great friend. Me all miss him on North Turkey Creek in Colorado. Such a waist.
I realize that he played 1 note a bit flat on the Sarasate-- so what? Eugene was among the top 10 violinists of the 1970s & he had a lot of competition. I am so appreciative of this video but am asking for more. If anyone has videos of him playing on Johnny Carson or Merv Griffin, PLEASE POST THEM. Eugene played La Campenella on Merv. Then, Devo came out wearing flower pots on their heads & sang Whip It. Fodor was very respectful to them during the interview & he was with Charlie Daniels.
So much fun!!! And I loved so much to see the joy and the mutual respect of those two so very different artists! Enjoying it and listening to each other!!!
I used to attend all of Fodor's concerts when he was in the LA area. I remember this concert from a long time ago & have been waiting to see it again. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR POSTING IT. Fodor was fascinating in many ways. Down deep, he was just a country boy. Seeing him here with Charlie Daniels shows how versatile & truly virtuostic he was. I don't care too much for today's violinist. There's nothing unique about them. Fodor used a sustained vibrato & fabulous technique. No shoulder pad either!
This is awesome! Sad that I just learned (from googling his name) that he passed on feb. 28th of this year:( Heard him play the Tschaikovsky in D once live. Unforgettable!
wonderful !!!!!!!!! :D
