Honostly the Deftones have their own flavor in music. To tell you the truth I can't really put a finger on any other band that sounds any thing like this. I mean I would say Tool, FIlter, and Korn (however this is just a simple outline) but the Deftones are so much harder, but why compare? Deftones are simply the greatest alt band out there.

i prefer deftones. tool tends to pull their songs in lenght and they end up having +2-3 minutes of something that could be cut out

Yeah same here. Not sure why, but I prefer Deftones, even though Tool is also amazing.
