The school has more than 800 students and is one out of 70 schools that have been part of the Red Cross Rural Water and Sanitation Programme in Western Uganda by receiving training in hygiene and sanitation.

Many of the students are members of the Red Cross Club whose aim it is to keep the school area clean and encourage their fellow students to practice good hygiene.

As soap is expensive and commonly goes missing the school headmaster therefore decided to replace the soap with ash which serves the same purpose as soap.

The Rural Water and Sanitation Programme is also about bringing clean and safe water to people in cholera prone Western Uganda. This has been done by constructing 425 new water points and reconstructing 337 old water sources.

This has benefitted over 245,000 people who used to struggle with water borne diseases caused by contaminated water and long distances to the nearest water point.
