  • I love this album. I've been looking for "Last Exit Before The Toll" for more than a year, but I can't get it anywhere. I found it on iTunes in the UK, but you can't purchase it with your US iTunes ID. Anyone know where I can get "Last Exit..."?

  • man, brilliant. sonic brilliance

  • Ronnie would tell you "Head is Dead" he dropped that handle but the good news is Mr. Drayton plays on.

  • Like the video? I like the music. I have treasured this album since the early 70's. Edwin is just fine.

  • I heard this song as a teenager in the 70's (I had the album)...needless to say it was incredibly mindblowing and way ahead of it's time...Edwin Birdsong is a rock/funk icon. 'The Last Exit Before The Toll' was and is a classic unto this day! V in DC

  • can someone who owns this album please post Last Exit Before The Toll. Thanks I;ll be looking for it.

  • @befjazz I bought this album and began playing around the the same time that you did and it had the same effect on me as well (i.e., in B-more). It was truly way ahead of it's time, but then again, Polydor was putting out all the great funk back then.

  • the last exit before the told was the jam by birdsong drayton was the best

  • I loved this stuff. Ronnie Drayton was from my neigborhood in Queens. Plays guitar lefty with strings strung right handed. I was just learning to play guitar in the mid 70's when I was floored by this. I also had a high school buddy named Walter Bryant that played just like him. Still one of may favorite albums. It was raw and technically way ahead of its time

The whole album is great. I wonder what these fine musicians are doing today?

  • way dig this stuff, my group would sound great in this style.
