2009 Columbus Marathon video by Perrin Peacock. This is Part 1 (of 2) and takes you step by step through the Columbus marathon from lining up at the start to the halfway point at mile 13.1. The scenes are Pre-Race, Starting Line, Interview w/ Charles Kielkopf, Mile 5 Aid Station, Mile 13, and Halfway Point. This was my 8th Columbus Marathon and my 19th run of marathon distance or greater. Check out Columbus Marathon Part 2 to see from the halfway point to the finish.

  • Hey I'm thinking of running the Columbus marathon next year. Do you have any advice or training tips? I've been running 5k's for over 4 years and I've trained at 50 miles a week before. What training schedule did you use?

  • Yes, sure. Start 3-4 months out. If you've been doing 3 miles or so, gradually increase your weekly runs to 3-5 miles for at least 2-3 days during the week. Then do some longer (slower) weekend runs. Try to gradually get to a 8 or 10 miler over 3-6 weeks. Then email me back:
