No, you can do it anytime during the match!
-
LOL! yeah i noticed it. But this just can be done after the match isn't it? i mean, when there's a dead body that you can hit? GOOOOD stuff!!
-
Yeah, if that's what you want to call it. Just hold d/b (for backdash) or d/f (for forward dash), then repeatedly do the A+B+C dash (a.k.a three button dash). Also, turn up your volume and listen closely... Assign one button to three button dash and another button to taunt; press them simultaneously to get a dash with taunt sound effect!

1:42 wtf? wavedash?

that *wavedash* trick does look cool. Does it work during the match or only when you win?

The "TvC Wavedash" (as I call it) can be done anytime (during match, after opponent has been knocked out). Character dash speeds very however. Alex has a very fast forward dash, while most characters generally have a fast back dash (Soki, Polymar, Casshern, Chun-Li, Doronjo). Both of Saki's ground dashes are very fast. Most characters have the same dash animations but a few have unique dash animations with varying speeds (Ippatsuman, Roll, Yattterman, Viewtiful Joe).

I think it varies with the animation. Some people dash while others do more of a hop than a dash. But it makes sense. Do you think the TvC Wavedash could be used in real matches?

Situational at best. The backwards wavedash for moving to the other end of the screen and may be useful in certain combos, but manual dashing works fine in this instance. Forward wavedash for rushdown and giving certain attacks a boost in range (2C slides [Polymar, Ippatsuman, Karas, Viewtiful Joe] in particular).

Makes sense. Although I wonder if it might be removed in the US release but it doesn't look like something that would make the game broken in any way =/

Chances are, they're still in. No reason for them to change the dashing system. Works fine to me and I love have the option of two methods of dashing.
