Bedrich Smetana´s Festive Symphony (1855) was written for the wedding of Franz Joseph I. with Elisabeth. Smetana used the official antemn of the monarchy (theme of Haydn).

  • This is, without a doubt, one of the finest symphonies ever written, yet it's rarely played. Smetena, like most of the other great Czech composers are far too often overlooked when it comes to fine music. I thank you for posting this..the man was pure musical genius!.
