Also he might have been bloated because Renee was helping him abstain from drugs. It might have been a withdrawal side effect, or he might have been eating normally or more than usual. Maybe it was the wine :)

@IMAFAN1971 Actually a lot of the 80's have aged very well: Duran Duran (except Andy Taylor), Jon Bon Jovi, Simon Gallop (The Cure), Kim Wilde (she lost 40lbs last year and looks great), Nena, Morissey, Johnny Marr, all of the members of Depeche Mode (especially Dave Gahan!), Tommy Stintson (Replacements), Mark O'Toole (FGTH), Terry Nunn (Berlin), Cy Curnin, Pat Benetar, and Debbie Harry, all aged pretty darn well.

@maxixe I believe at this time, JT was starting to become addicted to alcohol. I think by 85, most of the Duranies were full blown coke-addicts. Glad that JT and Simon cleaned and sobered up.

@cmgonzalez I disagree about his singing voice, while us DD fans aren't use to it & did it need to find its proper range, he's quite fine, no better or worse than some solo popular artists. Lucky for him his voice borders on Bowie-ish and sexy. "Immortal", "Don't Talk Much" "Do What I Do" and "Lonely Child" were not bad. It would have been interesting to know what voice training & him leading a few DD songs would've yielded (like they needed more panties thrown). His speaking voice is sexy too.
