  • Sounds simple. And thx for tutorial, but I have some questions on replacing my Epihpone SG's shitty plastic nut:

    1. What's the best material, or at least a good material a nut could be made of?

    2. I'm afraid I don't have that clamp thing, is there something at home we could use to make one, or improvise, or something?

  • @educassiano here's the answers:

    1. Bone or Tusq by Graph Tech

    2. Just get one of those clamp things from Wal-Mart, Harbor Freight or Lowes, they are about $5

thanks for watching and asking questions! let us know if you have any more questions!

  • Could i put a locking nut on a gtr without a trem?,i know the measurements might not match but could it be done??

  • @SiantDread The easiest thing to do would be to get some good quality locking tuners. If you have a fixed bridge then taht would work the best. There are some string lockers out there also that requires no modifications to your guitar, they just clamp the strings together right behind the nut.

  • @elitemusicsales ah,thnx, what would i look up to find these?

  • @SiantDread I would look up Gotoh locking tuners or Sperzel or Schaller. The gotoh are self locking which means they do not have a thumb wheel.

  • @educassiano the qualities of any nut material is only noticed when hitting the strings in the "open position"...with no fingers fretted. Once your fingers are pressed on any fret you have bypassed the nut....so in essence it will only be noticed on 6 notes only...open e,b,g,d,a,e. So a nut of crappy material and one of good material will only be evident on 6 notes......example, a fully barred G major chord on the 3rd fret completely negates hearing any qualities of the nut

  • Thanks for the explanation.

Too bad about the earthquake-effects though. :P

  • @elitemusicsales This will do, thx a lot!

  • Thank's, great lesson and cool dog.

  • Never thought I would be sayin this on youtube. Thanks for showin me how to bust a nut.lol
