  • WRONG if you haven't been playing attention, PEAK OIL is an Al Gore catch phrase. If we continue to use oil, there is plenty to go around. The problem is that in 1984 there were over 300 oil refinery's in the US. In 2004, less than 100. Oil production has slowed overseas due to OPEC driving up the price of oil in an economic game; in the 1980's all oil drilling in the US came to a grinding halt. Not because it wasn't there, but because of bad government decisions and public policy.

  • Burning Oil is the real issue, CO2 in the atmosphere is where the problems lies. Tipping point is what most climate change scientists are talking about! We need to reduce & change our energy use.

  • Well, I agree with you to an extent. But oil isn't the problem all together. I forget the exact percentage but coal being burnt to produce electricity is the largest generation of CO2, followed by metal refining and other large industry. The problem with oil is in petroleum based plastics manufacturing and big pharmaceuticals. In my future, all plastics are made from (the bio-mass) Hemp Oil and cars are powered by simple H20.

  • Really interesting guy. Last night, I saw the movie, "THERE WILL BE BLOOD." As I watched, I thought of oil as blood, and as I listened to David Philip's interview, I wondered, "What will happen when the Earth has given all her blood?"

  • Mankind adapts and blends...what's next?

  • You propose that we might fill the wedge between demand and supply with a multitude of alternatives. Are these alternatives possible to create without using more energy, and where is this energy to come from? Will not the investment in alternatives initially widen the wedge? Given the magnitude of what must be invested to "change our ways" it looks like a Catch 22 to me.

  • interesting!
