They disappeared for a while, tucked away in barns and the like. But in the last few years the Hurst SC/Rambler vehicles are starting to peek their noses from the dark once again. The recipe of stuffing an incredibly powerful engine under the hood of an incredibly light car worked well in favor for American Motors. Not too many were made, and of those, some were exposed to the elements. I do remember one, right down to it's studded red-line 70-series rear snow tires and Twin-Grip rear end scrambling around the streets years ago. I remember them being fast then, they still are now.

  • 3:54 gears are stock

  • @stockamx I was vaguely remembering something about that fact as the camera was rolling, but stated incorrectly, I was thinking about that ratio afterwards. The AMC Muscle book backed up your statement. Thanks for watching the clip.

  • Sweet Rambler, nice to have.

  • @Comrick317 Could this have been the Rambler keeping ahead of the Cadillac, all the while stuck in second gear? Beep-beep, beep beep, his horn went beep-beep-beep!

  • That was a sub 14 second 1/4 mi car with the 390 right out of the box! Thanks for finding it! RW

  • @Radiowild They did get out of their way very nicely, leave it to AMC to pull things out of a parts bin, add a few graphics, and go wild with it! You are welcome. Hopefully a drive will transpire some time in the spring in this car.

  • @CDNBadass It would be interesting to find out what has really become of the car. If it has been in a relatively dry barn, then anything is possible....

  • My dad used to have a Rambler when I was a kid...I think it is still sitting in the barn of the old farm we live on at the time.
