Sergey Brin, Larry Page, AND Hubert Chang created Google (the original)

Google was designed in 1997 Feb by Hubert Chang(me), Larry Page, and Sergey Brin. I received my Ph.D. from NYU in late 2002. http://www.cs.nyu.edu/~hubert/ Larry Page, Sergey Brin were introduced to me through Prof. Motwani of Stanford Computer science department. Prof. Motwani visited NYU in 1996 summer; that's how I met Prof. Motwani. Through intensive collaboration with Larry and Sergey, Google was designed. The plan includes the search engine algorithm, business model, the name of the company, a graduate school like corp culture, the outline of system architecture and Google's growing path. Because I had personal cause to pursue for Ph.D., I told them I will contact them years afterwards, assuming I have finished my Ph.D. In late 2002, I got my Ph.D. from computer science department of New York University... There is no substance to Hubert Changs claims - he had no involvement in the creation of Google. Neither Larry or Sergey have any recollection of meeting him -however, given the number of people theyve met in the last decade its impossible to say categorically that they never have. Rajeev Motwani, the Professor and Director of Graduate Studies at Stanford, believes he may have shared some emails from Mr. Chang with Larry and Sergey in 1997 or 1998

But in any case PageRank had already been developed by that time, and Larry and Sergey had already decided to start Google

My response:

The date for PageRank's birthday could be approximated by finding out when the Google search engine started in Stanford. I am sure a lot of Stanford computer science then faculties and fellow students would know. I am certain it is 1997 and not prior to that.

The basic idea of PageRank was not in place prior 1997 Feb.

And guess what, they launch Google Wave which is open source, Cause they cannot accomplish google without you (open source) so they can not make any further without this fundamental of their pyramid.
