Faces of Poverty Changing

Last week, the Census Bureau released new figures showing that nearly one in six Americans lives in poverty _ a record 46.2 million people. The poverty rate, pegged at 15.1 percent, is the highest of any major industrialized nation. (Sept. 19)

I'm really sick of reading ignorant comments like "stop having so many kids" or "its your own fault." Yes, there are some who have made mistakes and ended up in this condition, but for a vast majority, it was circumstances beyond control, or misleading information fed us by our system like 'put it on credit,' 'its okay to have debt, everyone else does' then you build a life around these simple ideas everyone has heard, and then you get laid off because your company decides to outsource.

I Laugh at the mornons with CAR Payments, Me? I drive a 13 yr old car I take care of, and we make great salaries in my household, we do not use credit, ever! Mortgage is done and , i fyou saw how frugal we are, you would think we had nothing! THAT i show you get wealth, save!! You save in Silver and Gold, you do not tak eout college loans, you buy USED an donly when you must!! Most of these people, I bet you, had/have car pmnts, they used their house as an ATM, lived beyond their means!
