Mate....Jazz is the music of surfing.

Even if i wasn't a muso I would prob still think that. Cop this :-)

Jazz musicians study chords/scales/history for clues about how to create music/same with surfing. You rote learn everything mentally/internally/physically so it can be called on in an ever changing instant depending on the conditions. You never surf the same wave/jazz imrov twice...even the same break/tune will be diff next time depending on the tide/drummer or swell/pianist
