Duke Energy's large-scale Edwardsport IGCC project may well end up being the biggest construction project in Indiana history. When it opens in 2012, the facility will make history as the largest in the world to use integrated gasification combined cycle (IGCC) technology to produce electricity while reducing carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions.

  • the problem is coal extraction is very polluting and ecologically damaging. you can't make coal "clean" through any amount of emission reductions.

  • With the right investments in technology, we can reduce greenhouse gas emissions and make the science of climate change irrelevant.

The technology isnt 20 years away — some of it is here today. There have already been technology demonstrations of greenhouse gas emissions control for existing power plants. American Electric Power has already announced the commercial deployment of these technologies at two of their larger older units one of them is the Mountaineer Plant in WV.

  • @factualitytour Why don't we impose restrictions on all developed western countries so all of our industry just packs up and moves to China where they can pollute free of charge? Oh wait, I forgot, that's already happening. General Electric, wait sorry I meant obama, is getting this done through the EPA. So now that all the factories are only in China, climate change will magically go away... as well as GEs competition. I'm so glad GE, I mean obama, is in charge. What a great guy.

  • Its digging the coal up that releases the emissions and does the damage.

Coal is also a finite resource.

Nuclear now has much better technology. Greenpeace are the environmental vandals by letting it happen.

  • Exelente !

  • Clean coal can be greenpower. Showalter Micropower where are you? Coal needs your help !
