Avalon Time (£47,000) - National Audio Show 2009

Avalon's latest stealth style cabinetwork forms the penultimate model in its highly regarded range. The Time stands 117cm high and is described as a small version of the range-topping Isis with a diamond diaphragm tweeter, concave ceramic dome midrange and a pair of 11in Nomex Kevlar bass drivers.

@andwestuk I heard a second hand pair of Avalons, look same size as these, about 6yr old and they sounded fantastic, even better than my Sonus Faber Cremona floor standers I had just got new, but they are not the best visualy appealing speakers for me anyway, the angled cabinet am not keen on, but the sound is awesome!

@draadjesvlees ..I went to a HI-Fi show in one of the Heathrow hotels and booked a sitting with approx 80 others to hear the B&W Nautilus 800`s running off obviously expensive amp & CD player. After a brief chat to us from the B&W rep he pressed the play button. It was a Bjork song with a long church organ intro. It was totally shocking and awesome. You could physically feel the soundwaves hit your body. Unless you have actually heard these type of speakers don`t make such daft comments

@draadjesvlees Have you ever heard about trained and untrained ears? Your ears are obviously untrained if you can't hear a difference between cheap and expensive speakers. So the speakers don't suck just because you can't do something.

I always have to laugh about this bullshit; BECAUSE its expensive, zillions of people start whining how good it is. While, at the same time, these speakers are no better than your average 500 GBP Pioneer speakers, and in any blind test this shows time after time. Because? These expensive speakers are hyped crap, and a waste of time. If you want something expensive AND good, buy a BMW 7-series for god's sake, but not hyped low quality speakers like this crap.
