Scenes from the British war classic directed by Brian Desmond Hurst, with Nigel Balchin (screenplay) and Peter De Sarigny (idea), starring Alec Guinness, Jack Hawkins, Anthony Steel and Muriel Pavlow.

Runtime: UK - 103 mins / USA - 97 mins

Filmed on location in Malta and at Pinewood Studios in Buckinghamshire, England.

Plot Summary:
In 1942 Britain was clinging to the island of Malta since it was critical to keeping Allied supply lines open. The Axis also wanted it for their own supply lines. Plenty of realistic reenactments and archival combat footage as the British are beseiged and try to fight off the Luftwaffe. Against this background, a RAF reconnaissance photographer's romance with a local girl is endangered as he tries to plot enemy movements. Plot summary Written by Derek Picken on imdb.com at http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0046029

The film was also released as 'Una storia di guerra' (Italy), 'Tonnerre sur Malte' (France), 'Vingar över Malta' (Sweden), 'Voittamaton Malta' (Finland).

  • @MuzDupWog Yeah, I'm half Scottish and Mum's from Valletta. But you can take pride in the Italians who fought in the Seige. I'm not Catholic, but the Knights, and everyone who fought there were heroes.
