Sen. Mike Crapo (R-ID) delivers the weekly Republican address about Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid's 2,074 page health care bill.

Sen. Crapo says, "This 2000-page bill will drive up the cost of health care insurance and medical care, not down, increase taxes by hundreds of billions of dollars, cut Medicare for senior citizens by hundreds of billions of dollars, grow the federal government by over $2.4 trillion in new spending, push the needy uninsured into a failing Medicaid system, impose a damaging unfunded mandate on our struggling states, leave millions of Americans uninsured, and establish a massive governmental intrusion into management of our health care economy."

Sen. Crapo notes that Americans are looking for health reform that lowers costs and "ensures access to meaningful, quality health care." Sadly, Reid's bill is not the kind of health reform American families need.

  • call the whambulance, the liberal crybabies are out in full force.

  • Republicans DID put forward plans & amend. that put patients 1st but dems shut them out, voted down their amendments. Republicans not only offered option, but dems have stifled the free market for years.

Let insur. co. sell across state lines! This breaks up monopolies, gives patients more choice!

Let people have portable health care plans! I've heard this was originally not allowed to please unions!

Tort reform! Lowers costs, Don't let lawyers bleed MDs dry, quash innovations and free markets!

  • LOL CRAPO

  • OK I get it - you are a RINO and the folks in IDAHO need to vote you out. When are you going to learn socialists do not negotiate??? They lead you GOP progressives on until they can collapse our nation and then rebuild it in their own image. Two Classes - those that have and those who have little or nothing. THE STATE OWNS EVERYTHING. Make it simple cut everything by 20% this makes it fair for everyone.

  • It's funny - the Republican senators who are talking about "fiscal prudence" have had staff salaries that run way above the average.

What is also funny is that he KNOWs once the public OPTION is done away with, the only thing left to keep the health care reform viable is mandatory insurance. And that money will go to the ins cos - and they pay him more than you do.

Here's his bottom line: the more from your pockets that goes to the health ins cos, the more he puts in his pockets.

  • Suddenly Crappo's concerned about medicare for senior citizens. Funny, not too long ago, he was against medicare altogether.

And if he's so concerned about cutting costs, why doesn't he cut his staff salary costs or his own salary? In 2008, his staff salaries were $2,570,696 - and that doesn't even include his own salary, nor does it include relevant committees, leadership offices, campaign committees & PACs - NOR does it include all the money he received from the health care ins lobbyists.

  • @supertodd206 ...couldn't be more true...

  • @out2gtme ,,,you got that one ...right on...!!

  • @MrNathanjefferson ...now that s intelligent...!!

  • Why can't we just cut out the regulations...let the Insurance Companies compete against each other....Now...... that is real Heath Care reform we need.....The Government has no business running ...Health care ....ALL Dem's want ...is to grow goverment...We will all regret this if it this passes....Nothing is Free...we certainly do not need to pay for illegals...

  • F$%# You! CRAPO, You Damn GOPHillbilly.

  • improve health care system, is no good for rich US people, because they would have to pay more taxes.. while spending trillions in war for bullshit is good.. is fullfilling our purse, hence since we own many politicians and most media.. we do tell you what to think, what to say, what to support.. an improved healthcare system is a no no...
