Watts Towers is one of L.A.'s top tourist destinations. And it's within steps of the Metro Blue Line near the 103rd Street Station. Cobbled together by Italian immigrant Simon Rodia, 17 spires reach toward heaven toward fantasy and hope. He built it solo over 33 years and now it's one of only nine works of folk art on the National Register of Historic Places. And while you're there, visit the Watts Towers Arts Center.
