Red: A Superhero Origin Story

This was a class project that I had to do for my first (real) film class. The assignment was to make a movie, but do it all with still pictures.

So for mine, I decided to make a movie about the thing that interests me the most - superheroes. This movie is meant to kind of focus on the level of obsession and drive one of these type of people would have to have to really maintain their superhero persona, and mostly it focuses on the kind of events that would shape a person into deciding to dress up like a superhero and seriously attempt to fight crime. The hero of this story has no powers or gadgets, but rather just fights with his own skills and guile.

I tried to steer clear of the typical conventions of superhero origin stories, but I still think I came up with one that really works, so please rate and comment. I'd love to hear any (constructive) criticism and all praise.

@Death1Watch I'm familiar with the RLSH movement and the things that you guys do, all of which I think is great. But this movie wasn't meant to be about a real life superhero as much as a superhero in real life (even then "real" was still firmly rooted in movie-real over actual real life). Because comic book superheroes are crime fighters, and because crime inspired my character to become a hero like those in comic books, it makes sense he would choose to respond violently against crime.

How did you make that mask?

@UltimateConnection15 I just bought one of those "faceless" phantom masks from a Halloween costume store. The cape as well. The gloves are for a Darth Vader costume, and the shirt was one of those red athletic wear shirts. The pants and boots are exactly what they look like.

@racheybaby99 The Scarlet Phantom. I called the movie "Red" because I thought it represented the more important aspects of the character's "origin story" that hint at why he chose to wear red as a hero.
