Bio:

Selector de música jamaiquina tradicional de los años 50, 60 y 70 que pretende y logra rendir tributo a lo que diferentes selectores de las originales fiestas del Sound System de jamaica que se realizaban en aquella época. Con ritmos que van desde el Mento, Calypso, Rithm and Blues, Ska, Rocksteady, Reggae y Dub.

Siguiendo su tributo al original Sound System jamaiquino, Dr.Gurí intercala su labor de Selector con la labor de Dj, presentandose ocasionalmente como Dj de Pablo Molina, voz de Todos Tus Muertos (www.Pablomolinamusic.com.ar) en su proyecto solista, cumpliendo de esta manera las 2 funciones dentro del Sound System, Selector
y Dj.

Selector Dr. Gurí con más de un año de trayectoria y en la intención, según sus propias palabras, "de compartir la música que tanto me gusta y me identifica" ya forma parte de la escena under del reggae local, cuenta con varias presentaciones en su trayectoria por Montevideo(Uruguay), Cordoba, Mar del Plata, Entre Rios, Capital Federal, La Plata.

Habiendo compartido presentaciones con Pablo Molina, Todos tus Muertos, Riddim, Resistencia Suburbana, No Te Va Gustar (Uruguay), Andando Descalzo, Desbaratan Banda, Demasiados Revueltos (Cordoba), Sessiones, Spiritual Reggae Band, Humanidub, Papas Ni Pidamos, Dulces Diablitos, entre otros.. y varios reconocidos DJs de la escena local.

Selector Dr_Gurí tuvo el agrado de cerrar el Escenario "Nacion Rastafari", en la fiesta mas grande de Uruguay, junto a la playa y el rio, en la "Fiesta de la X". por mas informacion www.lafiestadelax.com

Además de sus presentaciones como Selector Dr. Gurí, Germán Díaz trabaja hace un largo tiempo con su productora independiente "Leon Negro Producciones" (www.Leon-Negro.com.ar)

Es uno de los organizadores del Festival "Jamaican Fest" y de las fiestas "Caribbean Nights" que se realizan en la ciudad de La Plata.

Selector of Jamaican traditional music of the 50s, 60s and 70s that tries and manages to produce tax to what different selectors of the original holidays(parties) of the Sound System of Jamaica rum that were realized in that epoch. With paces that go from I Mention, Calypso, Rithm and Blues, Ska, Rocksteady, Reggae and Dub.

Following his tax to the original Jamaican Sound System, Dr . Gurí inserts his labor of Selector with Dj's labor, appearing occasionally as Dj de Pablo Molina, voice of Todos Tus Muertos(www. Pablomolinamusic.com.ar) in his project soloist, fulfilling hereby 2 functions inside the Sound System, Selector and Dj.

  • This is the first song to use the term reggae in print. It is not the first song with the reggae sound.

  • @TheGatunis No, it's not. Bob Marley & The Wailers were performing long before this even came out. This is just the first reggae song in discography. It's the first in print.

  • Bob Marley was still the King of Reggae.

  • This tune is Rocksteady (1966), Reggae was a dance before it was a sound and Toots' is referring to the dance. There was no Reggae sound until 1968 (Skinhead Reggae in 1969 and Roots Reggae in 1972 and "Marley" in 1974)

  • First time I heard this was on the vinyl 3 lp Trojan story album ( still tucked carefully away !!)..and it's bloody fantastic, wanna dance not type !!!!
