@Graham6762 My guess is these texts were never burned, but rather taken and hidden - say to the Vatican library.

"...one of the great tragedies in human history..." You got that right!

Yeah those educated Friars knew and respected history, they studied Latin text. Why in the world would they burn scrolls. Never burn books, imagine our world now if books were never burned.

Leave it up to christian fanatical kooks to ruin and destroy all because they`re too fucking closed minded to consider that others who don`t share there views should be left alone. What`s killed more people than disease or any other cause combined? Religion. That mind set "Accept it or die" is what`s cost millions there lives. I`ve told many christians "I don`t accept it and it makes you so angry you want to kill me, ever heard of thou shalt not kill? Your not a christian, your a fanatical"

it would be wise the keep the one man's 'mistake' allegorical because we know very accurately and precisely well how the british, french and the Portuguese empires had plundered asia and africa, similarly the nazis' extermination of the jews. practically, we shouldn't forget that all these, 'expansion and civilizing missions' had occurred centuries after the spanish conquistadors.
That Spanish friar Diego Velandas made a monumental mistake by burning those Myan Texts. Obviously they would've also contained plans on how their empire was constructed. What a brainless screw-up!
