Michigan Sports Car Club autocross on Belle Isle in Detroit, MI.

26 April 2009
2006 WRX STI
Mods: Invidia downpipe, USDM Genome Exhaust, K&N Filter, Perrin Rear Sway Bar, Cobb Stage 2 with Launch Control & Flat Foot Shifting Enabled, Stock Suspension. Downgraded to WRX 2/4 pot brake setup so I can run 15" wheels and gravel tires in rallycross.

Came out 1st in class by 1.669 seconds.
Times (cones hit): 55.659 - 54.872 - 54.972 - 58.049 - 57.817 (4)
Last two runs took it easy once I knew the times weren't going to be quick. Been having some "issues" with overheating my brakes and getting my RE01R tires getting slick so still need to work on bits.

Camera setup: Aiptek Action HD recording from a Ragecam Bullet camera.

  • he fucks up the car

  • Squeaky performance brake pads.

  • what are the squeaks that come in at about 1:00, it doesnt sound like its from breaks although i may be wrong

  • That's squeal from the brake pads. Compound is supposed to be low noise/dust. Not the case here.

  • When is the next autocross in Detroit area?

  • Just had one last sunday. You can check it in my other videos. Have another on the 9th of August.

  • Reading is clearly your strong point.

  • Mental note: build a driving course in the backyard..

  • @felipehangen This isn't in a backyard. This is a track on Belle Isle in Detroit, MI. I live here. It's a pretty neat place.

  • and sorry if i didn't clarify. the RE-01Rs (love em) are better for straight courses, the new RE-11s are definitely better slalom performance

  • you need some bridgestone RE-11s

  • I always wondered what you had done to yours. I was the second place guy with the black STI. I had fully stock suspension, no CC and a mild COBB tune. My tires were heat cycled so many times I should of had new RE1r's. Even cars I know you still would have beat me. I was starting to work on left foot breaking but I had to sell her. =(

I miss this more then loosing a child. I wish I could have learned some more and given you some good competition.

  • It was good to see you nail that first tight left in those last couple of runs. Maybe that extra speed is what messed up the slalom. Any reason you don't run something like a Kumho V710? Oh yeah, how did you PAX?

  • Just did my first one today....what a blast. I'm hoooked. My car is very similar to yours.
