The American Heart Association now recommends that you keep added sugars to less than 5% of your calorie intake. That's about 25 grams or 6 teaspoons per day for an average-sized adult.

Robert H. Lustig, MD, UCSF Professor of Pediatrics in the Division of Endocrinology, explores the damage caused by sugary foods. He argues that fructose (too much) and fiber (not enough) appear to be cornerstones of the obesity epidemic through their effects on insulin. • This is an absolutely ridiculously misleading title to the video. Taubes ASKS Lustig to speak up. It was a quite civil exchange,

  • This was improperly titled.

  • @Fathomless Joy i enjoy pig, your sacrificing your health for a pigs health. Ok, i admire your resolve. But thats all i admire. Bacon not highly processed is just fine with me. in fact i remove the nitrates by soaking in water. after all the bacon wasn't a longevity issue it was the cooked nitrosamines that was an issue.

  • @datzfast I don't eating rotting animals nor any highly processed foods, so bacon is out, boy. Funny thing, bacon eaters aren't all happy and laughing for long, right?

  • @FathomlessJoy ha ha you get no bacon and i get yours for half price.

  • Most animals meats are processed before and after the slaughter, especially bacon. Bummer, cause I know dem paleo yo-yos loves dem some dead rotting pig LOL

  • Perfectly civil scientific exchange, no yelling, posted title is misleading.

  • Lose the stache, Gary. :)

  • It doesn't sound to me that Lustig's and Taubes' views are incompatible.

  • Stop eating processed foods. Done. Problem solved.

  • If the video poster is trying to say that Dr. Lustig is pushing his issue, then I could sorta see that. But I feel that his sentiment is that the issue was neglected and he wanted the audience to be aware of it.

But you could also interpret it as him wanting to hear if Taubes affirmed, denied, or was neutral on his research into fructose, fiber, and obesity. And Taubes seemed to be more affirmative leaning in his response.

  • @brainboob What SNP permanently down-regulates fat absorption?
