Students in BTC's Instrumentation program built and installed this water flow measurement and alarm system in the spring of 2009 at Cedar Grove Park in Bellingham, Washington. Its purpose was to detect excessive water flow at the main line, indicating a leak in the piping. Since its installation, it has more than paid for itself by detecting two leaks. The maintenance staff was able to pinpoint and correct the leak in a matter of hours, rather than have to wait until they get a large bill from the City for excessive water usage.
