The reason he seems nervous is because he had really bad stage fright.Thats why his eyes are closed and most of the time wares sunglasses.When he first started he did his show faced backward.

Whether it's intentional or not, that's just his style. And while I wouldn't say he's a great performer, either, because he always seems sort of ... dare I say, jittery? ... and/or kind of nervous, and just kind of bizarre. But, again, that's his style... it could be on purpose. But you hit the nail on the head with the jokes part, he is like rapid-fire one-liner randomness... which, to me, seems harder than traditional stand-up comedy style because you need more material
