Question:
Are there any inherent benefits to choosing one type of housing design for their surveillance cameras over another type of housing design?

Answer:
There are two main styles of surveillance camera housing:

1) The Bullet Style Camera Housing, and
2) The Dome Style Camera Housing

Bullet cameras tend to provide more flexibility in terms of
maneuverability in which direction the camera is pointed. However, if you're mounting your bullet camera 15 feet or less on your home you obviously don't want it to be easily vandalized, for example, if someone were to come along and change its position and change its field of view, spray paint the lens, or outright smash the camera.

Dome cameras, on the other hand, are typically constructed of more rugged materials as their bodies tend to be constructed of steel or cast aluminum. The lower bubble construction is typically made of high density polycarbonate or acrylic, which are both plastic materials offer tremendous protection against glare, liquid ingress, or striking force by vandalism.

The downside of using a dome camera, if it's to be mounted vertically, is the possibility of a limited field of view.

To over come this, we offer a dome housing with an "egg dome" where the lower bubble is dropped several centimeters which allows the optics module to sit lower in the chassis and as a result achieve greater fields of view.
