@PetChickenz Isaac Asimov was the inspiration for ASIMO?? Huh, I didn´t know that. Well, I know that some believe that the robot series was named after him (which isn´t true).
-
@PetChickenz Well, there are many different ASIMOs, and they are not all programmed at the same level. Some of them, like the one in Disney World, are only for show, while others like the one which (I think) is currently in Germany. That one is able to tell the difference between a chair and a table eventhough it hasn´t seen that specific chair or table before. Well, it is kinda hard to explain, but if you have watch this video with James May where he meets ASIMO then you will know what I mean.

@RO55M4C wondering when someone would mention ISAAC ASIMOV who is the inspiration for the creation of ASIMO and other humanoid robots. grand science fiction writer/scientist. GENIUS. looks as if we are entering reality. someday we'll have R. Daneel Olivaw and R. Giskard. Right now we are entering the pre-stages of Robby the Robot.

@Nekhet i have no doubt that will create something somewhat akin to human consciousness/intelligence/thi
nking someday. i am impressed with asimo's abilities, i meant that asimo's intelligence is like a toy and we have a ways to go on that, but asimo as a robot is an amazing advancement with robot technology especially because it can move autonomously without anything to guide it (such as the ceiling) and that it has an amazing range of dexterity, balance, and motion. -
@PetChickenz But if we ever manage to create a truly self-aware, A.I. then it would probably be something like the internet: An entity with millions of different "brains".
It woiuld not be some measly robot like these SONY robots. Their computer is simply not big enough.
-
@PetChickenz I don´t think your laptop is able to serve drinks ;D. Anyway, robots and computers are usually extremely good at things we humans find difficult. F.ex: do complicated calculations at an amazing speed etc. While they perform very poorly in things which we humans find easy, such as walking, comtemplating new information or dealing with a new enviroment or situation and many other things.

@Nekhet they are. they're just big toys still, good at moving around mostly. the internet and my laptop is smarter than asimo.
