  • All they needed to do was say he could only go back to around the time he was sucked in.

    Easy.

  • This is the worst movie ever.

Not only is it worse than Plan 9 or Bride of the Monster,

but they killed Kirk in the most meaningless humiliating way.

In each episode of the TV series Kirk got out of jams tougher than this.

  • @dauntless111 I can continue if you want. I can talk about pointless scenes, about how this movie is made solely for fans of TNG, unlike previous 6 movies, how little sence the whole Nexus bullshit has and sorry, but the whole movie is about Nexus, and people talking about Nexus, so Nexus notmaking sence is not nitpicking. If you made whole movie about something, you need to have atleast minimal consistency.

  • @dauntless111 Suprisingly mature and fair expresing of your opinion.

With all respect, a guy who can come back ANYWHERE, ANYTIME, acting like Picard, is a big plot hole. The main reason, why my complains ( I have far more of them btw) may seem like nitpicking, is that, there isnt really much happening in this. Nothing in this big enough thing to have big complains about it. And the worst thing about this is, that it could be a really fantastic movie. The problem is, writers simply didnt care.

  • @Ikarosus No, I think you don;t like this film because you have a far more rigid idea of where SF stories are told. My idea of SF is that it's easily the most flexible of all the genres, I love it for that. I certainly don't think you are simpleminded, I just think you are way too nitpicky, and most of your criticisms are based upon personal opinion, not logical plot holes or bad character development. I thought this film was a great vehicle for Kirk and Picard's characters.

  • @dauntless111 And by the way, when did I say this movie is too long? Or that I dont like long movies? And what makes you think you "know"? You can read peoples minds or something? If you can, you do a crappy job.

Or are you really that simpleminded, that you think just because I dont like this movie, Im primitive douche, who only watches movies like Bayformers or 300? Because I want character development? Story? Because I want interesting characters like being threated with respect?

  • @dauntless111 My point is: What is a point of making whole movie to get two characters together, when they spend 99% of their time talking about plot device that got them together? This isnt character development, this is "hey dude, youre in Nexus. Come with me." "No." Yes." "No." "Yes." "No." "Yes." "Okay."

Why would it make the movie longer? You can cut half an hour, without changing anything. Third of the movie is just people walking around, doing nothing.

  • @Ikarosus Well, why couldn't they talk about Bananas? or Family guy? I know right, this film certainly doesn't cater for the masses at all doesn't it. Having a character from a pre-industrial planet would have made the film another hour longer, and I know you would not want that. Terrible, terrible film.

  • @dauntless111 I was hoping you would say that. Yes, Kirk telling Picard not to retire COULD be good, except its so short, and more importantly HE WASNT THINKING ABOUT RETIREMENT. Picard lost family in this, Kirk lost son. Why couldnt they talk about that?

By not caring,I dont mean I dont want them to win, but Im not like "my god, hope they will save these anonymous people I know nothing about" I mean, would it kill them to show us people of that planet? Why not have character from that planet?

  • @Ikarosus 'Interesting' is a matter of opinion. I think the sheer numbers of people of the planet makes us 'care' about them (not you though)... Nothing interesting to talk about? what about the 'don't let them promote you' scene. I realise I am arguing with a brick wall, you have already made up your mind.... :-)

  • @Ikarosus Obviously you do not care for the lessons within Star Trek that Roddenberry worked so hard at creating. Sigh.

  • @dauntless111 continued: But to be honest, the fantasy joke was more about the lack of explanation, which isnt really a flaw, but it is annoying for a lot of people. The problem with Generations isnt its plot holes, but lack of anything interesting happening. A guy wants to sacrefice planet of people! Too bad we dont know or care about them. Data gets emotions! Too bad its reduced to lame comic relief. Kirk and Picard team up! Too bad they have nothing interesting to talk about.
