Early 1960s Harlingen Texas HS band directed by Joseph Franks, who wrote the Alma Mater for Harlingen High School. The band playing was a state ranked band. Most pictures are from the yearbook El Arroyo. Historical note of interest, the Assistant Principal for Harlingen HS was Glenn Cleckler who joined the Marines with Harlan Block and fought in World War II in the Pacific Theater. It was Harlan Block that placed the base of the flagpole for the flag that was raised on Mt. Suribachi, Iwo Jima.

  • I was wondering if you could somehow send me the HHS School Song and HHS Fight Song in a file so that I can try to make it into a ringtone.

love your enthusiasm. this is why i posted it on youtube. the HHS director back then, 1963, was the best in the state and we lost him to Richardson. He wrote this alma mater for us. it's an original and it's ours forever. it's the most beautiful i've ever heard. makes you damn proud and devoted to dear old HHS.

  • OMG... I have been looking for this song for at least a year and a half....It was awesome listening to it again. Its been 22 yrs since I`ve heard it. Does HHS still play it? I would love to take my daughter to a game, so that she can see how everyone would wave their hands during the HHS School Song. . GO CARDS!!! Class of 1989
