This is just a demo video (and not a very good one at that). I'm still new at this desktop recording thing. First, I show the routing desktop. Then, I open leafpad and you see the busy-screen. Once it opens up I show the "terminal" keybard setup to type "hello!" and then type "hi !" with the default keyboard. (Notice the word selection with the default keyboard. It's useful, but takes some getting used to). Next I show the varous other parts including the top and bottom shelf (which handles application switching). You can also switch applications by pressing the directional arrows on the top shelf. Finally, I showed midori browser already loaded with the google homepage.

Also, I didn't illustrate it well, but if you hold a finger down on the keyboard and keep it there, a magnifier will show up in the middle of the screen so you can see where you are pressing underneath your finger. Pretty cool idea!

  • This video is a bit outdated now. I posted instructions over at talk.maemo.org but the files and everything used to do it are now likely decreciated. It was basically e17 installed onto a minimal ubuntu installation. Your best bet to get it going is to head over to talk.maemo.org and search the forums using the terms e17 and ubuntu or mer.
