The Ash Institute for Democratic Governance and Innovation at Harvard Kennedy School administers the annual Innovations in American Government Awards. In this interactive Visionaries public television documentary series, learn about Florida's Broward County sustainable model for retaining quality teachers in low-income, urban school districts and the DC Metropolitan Police Department's efforts to bridge the divide between the gay community and the police force through its Gay and Lesbian Liaison Unit. These, along with four other government programs, are winners of the 2006 Innovations in American Government Awards. The Awards honor the best in government innovation from local, county, city, tribal, state, and federal levels.
