Am I missing something? The higher the potential reward would increase anxiety during performance, causing decrease in performance, particularly in cognitive based tasks. In acute terms, this seems obvious. How does that relate to the day-in-day out (chronic) practices of a job. As if someone might worry "Oh no, I might make too much money this year!". Also If 98% of children scored at genius level, perhaps standard were low? Overall, very thought provoking in spite of some holes in the argument
