@adth446 It seems heavily suggested in the series that Rei, having no mother, has had part of her soul (Lilith's) placed inside of Unit 00. But she is an exception; Touji is human, so his mother's soul would be inside that sexiness. Also, if you consider the Rebuild movies to be relevant, we actually get to see Touji's sister and she...doesn't look all that much like an Eva.
