I should invent glass gauntlets for chemistry.

My Chemistry professor in college told me a story about one of his colleagues who was burnt on over 50% of her body by fluorine. Actually I believe it was fluoride. Long story short, someone in her lab accidentally turned off the hood (how does that happen accidentally?), and she was covered in the stuff (how did she have enough to cover her?). I believe she died after a week or so in a medically induced coma. I have more questions than answers regarding this, but that is one dangerous chemical.
