um... i have a question.. and its hard for me to ask. because i too am a transsexual, life at home has been difficult. but i was wondering if you have to have a perscription for the hormones, since i don't know if the new health care bill has affected us getting our necessities for becoming who we really are.. its a scary world.. and i really don't know what step to take next...

@4Leona well if you do things the right way yes you should have a prescription but let me say that in the us there are guidelines first you see a psychologist that specializes in transgenderism. then after you go through certain steps you then are referred to a endocrinologist that will do the testing of blood, and hormones levels and anything else then will set you up with the right dosage for you. most insurance places don't cover it unfortunately . although...please read next post..

@4Leona although you dont need a prescription alot of ts get over seas medicine through websites like inhousepharmacy . there is a specific tab for trans gender but you need to research medicine before you just go and buy anything. ive come to the conclusion the the average and more safe dosage is 4 to 6mg a day of estrogen which is called progynova . and testosterone blocker is spironolactone which is 200mg a day . i cant tell you what to take but that is the average.
