@comesmokewithme420 Actually, you can. It's up to the artist however to get the sample cleared before releasing the song using the beat. Technically the original owners can sue the producer for selling the beat, but they can only sue him for 25% of whatever profit he made for selling the beat. Do you really think they're gonna chase this guy up for 10 bucks???

@TheRealKidAstro Well actually copyrights still stand up until 50 years after the artist's death I believe and an appropriate agent can take action on the artist's behalf. But yeah, as I said, the producer will never cop any fines, it's always the head of the label that will get in shit for not getting the sample cleared before releasing the track.
