Video on my Dillon 650's and a couple of modifications, features and the way I do things. FYI, everyone has their own ways of doing things and this is just one persons way. You may find something informative here and you may not. Enjoy.

If you are watching this from a mobile device and not a PC, you might not be able to see the annotations super imposed on the video.

  • Good video. I've got the 650 also... just one though! ;) Two questions... 1) what are the elastic bands (?) on the powder measure for? I see you still have the "fail safe rod" so why the bands? 2) I assume you are seating the bullet at station 3 instead of 4 to be consistent with both machines but why 2 crimp dies on the 45? ( I assume it is a crimp at station 4) Oh one more... ;) Why 2 machines? Why not just have an extra primer system to make faster calibre changes? Thanks!

  • @ElmerFuddGun C if I can answer in the comment box. 1) those are springs that help make the powder bar return (I think that is old skool design). 2) failsafe rod, can you explain that more, not sure what you mean. 3) I load lead with the 45 ACP. I find that the LEE factory crimp die at the end allows for better consistency with the finished round. I ended up using a factory crimp on all my stuff now, lead or not. 4) 2 machines, my wife shot 38 super and I shot 45 every weekend, it made it easier

  • Haha i like the thing in the beginning of the video that said its unscripted and off the cuff but after i watched it, it was a very neat and interesting informative video. you did a nice job. thats one hell of a shooting bench setup you got there too. very organized. wish i had mine as clean as yours. i have no experience with the dillons but i do have a RCBS progressive and it works well but that thing looks slick especially with the removable plate containing the dies.

  • @cornraker Thanks, the removable plates allow you to leave your dies set and makes it quick and easy to swap calibers. I find the 650 works fine for me but I hear the 1050 is even better. However, the plates that hold the dies for the 1050's are something like $100 each while the 650s are $25

  • Very nice video. I just bought a 650 from Brian Enos, and will be setting it up for 9mm and 45 ACP. It's a bit daunting, and videos like yours help a lot. Thank you!

  • It only looks complex but is very easy to use. If you plan to load lead bullets I highly reccomend the "LEE Factory Crimp Die".

  • @jkatz44 I've aquired these 2 presses over the last 10 years or so. They were definately not a single purchase. I've owned a couple different progressive presses in the past and Dillon seems to make the best functioning ones IMO.

  • Where did you get these 650s? Enos? Yesterday on enos one of these sold in 25 minutes for only $700.
