I remember hearing this on reruns of "Little House on the Prairie" back in the early 80's, and I thought they were saying, "Ringing in the cheese"!

nothing like a little Tennessee Ernie Ford blasting through my speakers with my top down and cruising down main street!!

Bringing in the sheep, bringing in the sheep.
I see Grandpa Leon working out by his pick-up, singing away to this song. Smiling and happy with life. Thanks Gramps, For a very happy memory

So beautiful and timeless!

@Gandalf1948 What do you mean by terrible theology? I interpret that as anti christian!

@maxbatch70 I haven't been to Church for a few years, but I know what you mean. My mom's complained about how they do modern things in Church, too. Seems like she mentioned they played guitars and even drums, too, and she couldn't believe it. When I think of Church, I think of Bibles, pianos, and pipe organs. Not rock bands, long hair, sunglasses, flashing lights, and disco balls.
I don't know what this world's coming to, but it scares me, sometimes.
Although I, like you, love the old hymns, please, do not give up on all the new music. A time back, a young man left his church because of the "new music". He felt that God had a distaste for this "new" music. But God worked on his heart, and lead him to actually write new music? His name? Halador Lillianas, who wrote many of the hymns we sing today!

So do I!

I will agree, and disagree. A good deal of the new music is shallow; but, on the other hand, some hymns that contain terrible theology are still around just because they are hymns.

You are welcome.

Yes, and sadly, rarely sung any more. Not that I have anything against the new music of the church-it, too, is great; but we are forgetting too many old hymns.

So do I, and no one did it better than Ernie Ford!
