there are many stories about her dead. One says that she joined Lu Bu, but was eventually captured by cao cao, who gave her to Guan Yu. Guan Yu then killed her. In other words Diao Chan commited suicide after her deed or was killed during the fight in Xia Pi. Who knows whats true?

In today's era, Diao Chan's plan would have failed, because Dong Zhuo and Lu Bu would never have gotten into a conflict over this, and they would simply have had a 3-some. Or maybe that's just my perverted mind thinking this... :p
