@Waluigiman no he told him that he was going to steal the master emerald and eggman wanted to protect it knuckles just took the chaos emeralds to slow sonic down

The reason Knuckles is against Sonic in this one for people who don't know is that Robotnik has tricked Knuckles into thinking Sonic is a bad guy and is after the Chaos Emeralds for his own nefarious deeds, it is believable I guess since Knuckles is an idiot and Eggman and his machines were pretty beat up after the smack down that happened at the end of Sonic 2.

The title screen to Sonic 3 annoyed me. It's a great idea, but it stretches the hardware just a tad beyond it's capacity, making the animation where Sonic bursts onto the screen suffer from highly noticable slowdown.

Don't get me wrong, Sonic 3 is a legendary game But I just couldn't ignore the fact that the title screen doesn't animate all that smoothly. They were a tiny bit over-ambitious with it, I think.
