Because of lack of realists in society, we manage to make poor decisions and do not weigh up the negatives of the actions we take. It's all well and good surrounding yourself with positive minded people, but there is a difference between positive in going forward, and absent-minded positiveness

Fantastic talk! If you're interested in these things, I highly recommend Pink Ribbons INC (documantary based on the book by Samantha King that has the same title) - it is about the construction of breast cancer as something you can beat with a positive attitude, denying people the tools to come to terms with the idea of dying and make people feel as a (personal) failure when they don't succeed in "beating" breast cancer.

@autompd The Secret is a rehash of books from the 1980's which say you attract experiences through your thoughts . So if my kid gets cancer I thus must have "attracted" this with my mind. This is a way to deal with things out of our control. Did everyone who is unemployed now or losing their home attract it? What about all the negative people in the world who have lots of money and don't lose their jobs etc? It is all based on logic and life nor prayer or logical.
