  • I think that this is a high-amp discharge through a large coil, with a 'shorted' coil on top of it: when the discharge energizes the coil, enormous forces will cause the shorted winding to bounce off, or, as in this case is pretty obvouis: explode. I thinkt that when you search for 'hard disk platter launcher' you will get results of the same principle, but than a bit smaller.
