On 24th February 2008, NVR became the only line in the UK which has 2 full sets of operational TPO lineside equipment. Taking 6 months to be completed, with the help of a Heritage Lottery Fund grant.
1. 14 was at the back on the testing train so that if anything occured the driver could stop it quicker than if the loco was at the front (crew can't have head out until past apparatus due to the bags).
2. Exactly the same as they have a Didcot! a TPO exchange can work at walking pace and does not have to have a long run up.
ah ok it's most probably because i'm more used to sutton cross and have seen footage of the GCR's mail trains but hey i an't wait for this years tpo event in which are you going?
I am around both days of the event and hope we get a good turn out. Both sets of apparatus will be in use.
