Doesn't sound like a hardware issue from your short description. Is it possible you have the selection set to external monitor?

Sorry, never saw your comment, and I'm not sure what you're describing. Is the whole screen blinking, or do you mean the screen starts bright than dims?

My Toshiba laptop works fine except the screen is really dark. The screen works but its just really dark. What do I do?

Hello, my laptop flashes BIOS screen at startup for a fraction of a second, after that i get a dim image. Anyone has a clue about it ?

@blackeye09 that laptop model had crap design so the motherboards would overheat and it would mess up your graphics card.

Hi I'am having a couple of issues where the laptop DV9000 HP, when i hit the power button it turns on,blank screen(No back light) possible inverter failure, and then the laptop turns off after 6 to 7 seconds(all lights turn off) then a automatic reboot on its on and it stays on, and I can feel heat after a while of the laptop being on, so what do you think can be the reason of the symptoms that I am having. Please let me know?

where can you buy inverters? my 3 year old laptop lcd inverter just died. i can seem to find it on the internet. can i just use inverters from other laptops? could they be compatible with my laptop?
